MULTI-DISCIPLINARY CHALLENGES CAN SLOW INNOVATION.

You are a senior team that is…

Working on gluing a team together of senior technical experts or scientists at the top of their game, people leaders and commercial builders.

Wrestling with ongoing H2/H3 horizon alignment.

Working on gluing a team together of senior creative, artistic talent at the top of their game, people leaders and commercial builders.

Pushing yourselves by embracing a culture of experimentation.

What you might be seeing in the team…

Repeating decision-making patterns slowing down innovative experiments.

“Us vs them” mentality creeping in. (Science vs Sales, Creative vs Delivery etc.)

Data vs Opportunity vs Intuition driven clashes blocking progress.

Conflict of personality drowning out the gains that could be made from constructive conflict of ideas.

“I believe that in art and science are the glories of the human mind. I see no conflict between them.”

Gerty Cori, Biochemist + Nobel Prize Winner

PERFORMANCE AND LEADERSHIP FOR PEOPLE AT THE TOP OF THEIR GAME.

I could write a whole essay on how I work with multi-disciplinary teams and leaders. But in short the best way to describe it is: I support people at the top of their game who embrace that art, science and design are intrinsically linked and require flow. Getting out of your own way is a constant dance. I support leaders and teams on that dance below the surface.

I love this ultimate display of the value of ‘not doing something’:

The King Crimson drummer Bill Bruford, was waiting for the right moment to join in on the improvised piece “Trio”. He spent the entire piece with his drumsticks crossed over his chest, eventually realising that the piece didn’t need him. The rest of the band felt he made the right decision and provided him with the writing credit “Admirable Restraint” on the song, for not playing.

“I’d say that what we hear is the quality of our listening.”

Robert Fripp, Guitarist + Founder King Crimson

WHAT PEOPLE SAY.

“Maeve has been coaching my entire senior team and I can confidently say she’s been absolutely transformative (and she’s working with a true range of people from a wizzkid 31yo ex-banker to a 57yo scientist at the peak of her career). In a weird and wonderful way she tows the line between leadership coaching, performance coaching and elements of therapy, surfacing and unlocking the areas that hold people back.

She asks the kinds of questions that pierce right through you, open new possibilities that you never knew existed and help you lead in a way you only hoped you could. Her work is a masterpiece in turning conflict into growth, crisis into opportunity.

Every single senior executive or team I know would benefit from working with her.”

“Mission oriented organisations are crafted on day zero – right at the inception stage, not when scaling. As founders we are the soul of that process. We are required to dig deep and do that essential work to foster creative leadership and the incubation of a safe space for the team to blossom in. That spreads a true culture for continuous experimentation. Maeve has been an instrumental enabler in that journey at embryōnic and with both leaders and teams at our portfolio ventures.”
